Saurav Mitra

Doctorate Student

I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree. Present research interests include implementing a multi-grid kernel within an incompressible Navier-Stokes solver in MPI (1-D domain decomposition). I work under a project entitled "Multi-scale simulation of Nanoparticle Aggregation for Scale Up of High-Rate Synthesis Methods" funded by the National Science Foundation(NSF). I will be using Direct Quadrature Method of Moments in DNS code to model varying particle shape while minimizing the number of scalar transport equations, which will supply the "spatially filtered" nanoparticle aggregation kernels that are needed for Large Eddy Simulation of nanoparticle synthesis reactors.

Originally from Kolkata, India, I completed my undergraduate education at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra receiving a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree in May 2001 and completed MS in Aerospace Engineering, at Syracuse University, New York in June 2004.
